BTW have been monitoring trap lines for the past ~18 months on the Mangaoraka Track, Taranaki Maunga led by our Environment Team.
Yesterday Sarah Cook and Cam Twigley were lucky enough to be part of the release of three kiwi on the Maunga. Manga-o-raka means the stream of Raka. The group that Sarah and Cam were part of, released a female kiwi named Raka into the Mangaoraka Track area. Mana whenua performed karakia to keep Raka safe. It was an amazing experience and so great to see our trapping efforts coming to fruition in enabling kiwi to be released on the Maunga.
Ngā mihi nui to all staff who have contributed.
