Meet Remalia, our Environment Team Leader, Kirikiriroa – Hamilton.
Remalia has an MSc in Science and 15 years consulting experience across Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia. Her background includes water resources assessments with a focus on water supply, source risk assessment, construction dewatering, and discharges to land and water. Remalia brings a strong skill-set that is a great fit for the wider BTW team. In her first three months with us, Remalia has demonstrated her hydrogeological skill-set for the Hamilton Te Wetini Subdivision consent application, where she developed a conceptual groundwater model to better understand surface water/groundwater interactions, in support of our ecological work at the site. She has also successfully supported Powerco in confirming that construction dewatering requirements meet permitted activity criteria, and has provided a bore peer review for exploration water supply drilling for the Parihaka settlement.
Outside her main area of hydrogeology, Remalia has been involved in the diverse range of services that BTW provides. This includes preparing surface water take applications, assisting with contaminated land site investigations and ecological field surveys, through to leading our upcoming Wai Eye projects alongside our three waters civil engineers.
Away from work, Remalia can be found biking trails around the stunning Waikato region.
